They Called Them Agitators
They Called Them Agitators focuses on the Chicano Movement in Tucson (and peripherally, its “ripple effect” in Southern Arizona). The film describe the history of the Chicano people in Southern Arizona and then progress to its main focus: the history, events, and dynamics of the Chicano Movement in Tucson from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.

The movement’s dynamics revolved around social-political activism, but it also represented a strong cultural force that stimulated much artistic expression--art and murals, plays, poetry, music. The film considers how the movement has affected today’s Chicano community as it faces contemporary issues.
